Bill Gates is an American business magnate, investor, author, philanthropist.

He is best known as the CEO of Microsoft Corporation that is currently headquartered in Silicon Valley.


Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. He has been criticised for his business tactics, which have been considered anti-competitive.

He ran the company for 25 years until the year 2000, when he stepped down as CEO, later stepping down as chairman in 2014.

House

Bill gates currently owns one of the largest private residences in the united states and its called Xanadu 2.0

The house overlooks Lake Washington in Medina, Washington and covers an area close to 66,000-square-foot and is noted for its design and the technology it incorporates.

The mansion is thought to be worth close to £200 Million Dollars and is designed like a pacific lodge.

It features an estate-wide server system, a 60-foot swimming pool with an underwater music system, a 2,500-square-foot gym, a 1,000-square-foot dining room, and heated floors and driveways.

The home also features an earth-sheltered house and a large private boat dock.

There is a massive trampoline room in the home with padded walls and a foam pit included.

The house has seven bedrooms, 24 bathrooms including 10 full baths and Bill Gates shares the prestigious Medina waterfront with Amazon founder and boss Jeff Bezos.

Bill gates owns a 1999 Porsche 911 convertible which has a 3.4 litre 24-valve 6-cylinder engine which develops 296 horsepower and a torque of 258 lb.

The rear-mounted, water-cooled engine renders awesome acceleration taking the car from 0 to 60 mph in just around 5 seconds.

The manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price for a 1999 Porsche 911 convertible begins at $74,460 $109,000 for the Cabriolet.

Bill gates owns several other cars including a 1988 Porsche 959 Coupe and a Porsche 930 Turbo that has a speed of 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds and had a top speed of 153 mph.

 

Private Jet

Named “Guilty Pleasure”, Bill Gates Private jet is a Bombardier BD-700 Global Express that cost $60 million dollars and seats up to 19 people.

The aircraft has a full galley and two lavatories and has a large crew rest area and cruising speeds can be anywhere from cruise between Mach 0.85 and Mach 0.89.

The maximum certified altitude is 51,000 ft and the typical approach speed is 200 km/h requiring approximately 2,600 ft of runway for landing.

 

Private Island

Being the richest person in the world, its no surprise that Bill Gates owns the largest island in republic of Belize, Grand Bugue Island.

The island is known for its superb beaches and an astounding variety of marine life, which consists of colourful sponges, tunicates, sparkling starfish and dolphins.

Its thought that the island has offered Bill Gates multiple opportunities for large scale resort development and tourism.

Grand Bogue caye was rumoured to have been purchased by Bill Gates for $25 million however its still un-clear if he actually purchased the island.

 

 

Friends

One of Bill Gates biggest friends is said to be Warren Buffet, who gave the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation $2.1 billion dollars.

Other friends from his inner circle include Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos of Amazon Fame, Lloyd and Janet Frink of Zillow Fame and Jim and Catherine Allchin who are connected to Microsoft.

Another good friend that’s very close to Bill gates is Paul allen who helped him set up Microsoft from the beginning.

Other notable friends include Nalin Savara, Entrepreneur, Author, Technologist and Mobile Enthusiast along with Steve Ballmer who he has been friends with since college.

He also had a friendship with the late Steve Jobs, despite personal differences in the work environment.

Bill Gates has quite a large family and this includes 2 sisters Elizabeth “Libby” Gates Armintrout and Kristianne Gates Blake.

Mary Maxwell Gates and William Henry Gates, Sr. were his mother and father.

His wife is called Melinda French Gates and between them they have 2 daughters Jennifer Katharine Gates, Phoebe Adele Gates and a son Rory John Gates.

 

Collectables

Bill gates is known to have several collectables in his possession and these include the Codex Leicester, the most celebrated works of Leonardo Da Vinci and it cost him $30.8 million dollars.

Other collectables in his possession include the painting Lost on the Grand Banks at a cost of $36 million dollars and another painting, Polo Crowd which he snapped up for $28 million.

Three more paintings in his collection include Distant Thunder, The Nursery and Room of Flowers with a combined price for all three coming to $37 Million Dollars.

Achievements

Bill Gates has earned some impressive achievements over the years including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.

Gates received the Bower Award for Business Leadership from The Franklin Institute in 2010 and Bill and Melinda Gates jointly received India’s third highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan in 2015.

He was also made a Distinguished Fellow of the British Computer Society in 1994 along with the Satellite Special Achievement Award in 1997.
