Pokemon GO is one of the most popular apps in 2016 and has launched Nintendo back into the spotlight. Its been installed more times than twitter and Instagram combined and the sheer volume of players have almost bought the servers down.

Pokemon Go is one of the biggest games to ever be released onto the app store and it has the potential to become bigger than Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The game already has more daily users than twitter and with users soon able to trade pokemon between each other, its likely to keep exploding in popularity for some time to come.
Catching all those pokemon does not happen sitting indoors, although you can catch pokemon around the house.
Many players have complained that they have suffered leg injury’s from running around over long distances, however the apps creators have said that the game promotes exercise by getting people off there couch and out the house.

If you live in america then there’s a good chance that you hate the metric system. Since the games release however, searches for kilometre-to-mile conversions, in particular distances, have spiked considerably.

7. Side Businesses
When you introduce a game that requires people to do things, they usually find another way to make it easier to kind of cheat to get results quickly.
One of these cheats were craigslist ads that let pokemon go players hire drivers to transport them to places to catch pokemon, and yes this includes UBER drivers.
Other businesses have also offered pokestops and free WiFi to help people catch there much sought after pokemon.
Several criminal gangs have been reported to be using the game to lure unsuspecting pokemon go players to hotspots and then steal from them.
On July 10, 2016 police in St. Louis County, Missouri, arrested four men a mere four days after the game’s release for essentially using it to locate people to rob.
They apparently used the games beacons near pokestops to steal from gamers.
The company has seen a fall in popularity in recent years, however since pokemon go’s release, the company has seen a 60 percent increase and its fortunes now stand at almost $12 Billion dollars.
It is expected that the financial impact on the company in the long run will be nothing short of staggering.
4. Counterfeit Versions
While pokemon go is a free game, it has been very hard to get hold of due to the mass demand and strain on the servers.
Many copies of the game have been downloaded from third party servers and some of these can include dangerous malware.
This malware can access vital systems within the users device including storage networks and contacts and one users device was even taken over by hackers.
3. Data Collection
Pokemon go uses Go uses and stores GPS location data, and users must agree that the Pokemon Company reserves the right to share this information with third parties
These third parties get access to storage, contacts, and network connections which is a fantastic tool for law enforcement looking for potential threats and dangerous criminals.
The information collected is all spelled out in the License Agreement, which explicitly states that location data may be provided to law enforcement if the need arises.
Pokemon go has a landmark system which includes some businesses that have been chosen as pokestops, gym trainers and portals.
Some savvy business owners have reported activating games of their own and then setting lures inside the business and watching Pokemon-hunting customers come rolling in.
Using lures has also proven to be an effective double whammy for businesses fortunate enough to already be designated a Pokestop or Gym Trainer or even be near one.

Pokemon Go has blended Augmented reality with elements of the real physical world and while its AR engine is pretty basic, its understood that many attempts to improve on this are now under way.
Its only a matter of time before something similar launches either with another game or with an upgrade for pokemon go….. pokemon go HD perhaps?
