Futuristic Urban Skyscraper Tower Planned For 2050
The 2050 Tower building of the future has been announced by engineering firm ARUP and it features futuristic pods that can be replaced with different types.
Dubbed City-scraper 2050 tower, the design sees a smart building that would adapt with smart technology in an area where it is built.
The tower is expected to feature many renewable technologies and be able to grow its own food and power itself.
The 2050 building will feature a timber–based structural frame and floor slabs which cater for modular building components that can be moved or changed at any time.
On the interior surfaces, phase change material will be used that has the capability to facilitate heat recovery and the building would feature robots that could maintain and change many aspects of the tower.
Transport links would be directly built into the tower with both a subway and air-train connecting different towers to each other, avoiding the need to leave the City-Scraper tower and travel in traffic.
ARUP has designed individually-operated climate and lighting controls, whilst the intelligent building manages itself using data collected from a membrane wrap that converts CO2 to oxygen via nano-particles.
Designed as integral parts of the building, the City-Scraper tower green spaces encourage interaction with plants, birds and insects whilst utilizing vertical farming techniques such as hydroponics to facilitate food production.
Many of the technologies that have been proposed for the project have already been discussed as future ideas that could come into production soon.
