Copenhagen Gate Bike Bridge Project
Copenhagen is know as one of the most bike friendly cities in Europe and the new Bike Bridge project aims to take bike travel to a whole new level.
The Copenhagen Bridge will feature 2 skyscrapers that will be connected by a bike lane bridge that will be approximately 213 feet in the air.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2016 and once created it will act as a gate to the city.
The design for the Copenhagen bridge was chosen in a competition back in 2008 however until recently construction has been on hold due to sever economic issues.
The bridge itself will span the 2 towers and be suspended 65 meters above the harbor and each side of the bridge will beet in the middle on an angle.
Each building in Copenhagen will be covered in solar panels and wind turbines atop them will provide all the buildings lighting needs.
One interesting point to note is that Copenhagen has a strange law where homes cannot be built further than 500 meters from a transportation system…. for the towers the bike path removes this issue.
